Cash Seized in Kolkata: Investigation Ongoing.webp

Kolkata, April 5 Police recovered approximately ₹38 lakh in cash from a vehicle in the Tollygunje area of Kolkata on Sunday, officials said.

The cash was seized from an SUV parked near Plywood House More on N S C Bose Road in the Netajinagar area, a senior Kolkata Police officer said.

The seized amount was handed over to the Income Tax Department, and the owner of the vehicle, a resident of the Alipore area and a businessman, was being questioned, he said.

The large sum, recovered ahead of the assembly elections, is being investigated by the police and the Income Tax Department, the officer said.

Elections to the 294-member West Bengal assembly will be held in two phases – on April 23 and April 29. Votes will be counted on May 4.
