New Delhi, March 16 At least 20 instances of misinformation and attempts to spread rumors have been reported during the ongoing CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams, according to the Ministry of Education.
Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary shared this information in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha.
"Around 20 instances of misinformation and attempts to spread rumors were reported during the examination period. Concerned media platforms were asked to remove such videos, and they were promptly removed," Chaudhary said.
"Furthermore, an advisory has been issued to parents, students, schools, and all other stakeholders regarding the circulation of fake information and rumors ahead of the 2026 CBSE board examinations, urging them to remain vigilant and not to be misled by unverified news, rumors, or fake news," he added.
Chaudhary stated that CBSE proactively collaborates with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), along with representatives from major social media platforms, to discuss mechanisms for identifying and curbing the spread of fake news related to examinations.
"The board has a dedicated team monitoring any misleading or fake content, addressing the issue with social media handles, removing such content, and communicating directly with stakeholders through circulars and media briefings whenever necessary. CBSE takes appropriate action against individuals who violate the rules to maintain the integrity of the board examinations," he said.
