
Srinagar, April 8 Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the chief cleric of Kashmir, welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran on Wednesday.
"The announcement of a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States is a positive step towards peace. It highlights that restraint and dialogue are more important than confrontation in resolving conflicts, and that peace prevails over war," Mirwaiz said on X.
He praised the resilience and courage shown by the Iranian people and leadership in the face of extreme aggression.
"The resilience and courage shown by the Iranian people and leadership in the face of extreme aggression is commendable. Congratulations to them, and all the actors, including Islamabad, for bringing about this crucial ceasefire," he said.
The former chairman of the Hurriyat Conference expressed hope that the two-week ceasefire will lead to lasting stability and greater dialogue.
"May this lead to lasting stability and greater dialogue over conflict," he added.
