Celebrating Women in Railways: A Guntur-Rayagada Journey.webp

As part of the celebrations of International Women's Day, a special train, the Guntur-Rayagada Express, was operated by a fully female crew from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada, showcasing the increasing involvement and leadership of women in railway operations. The train was launched from Visakhapatnam Railway Station by Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair.

The train was entirely operated by a dedicated team of female railway staff, including the Loco Pilot, Assistant Loco Pilot, Train Manager, and onboard ticket checking and support staff, highlighting the professionalism, capability, and commitment of women employees in Indian Railways.

The operation of the all-female crew train reflects the East Coast Railway's continued commitment to gender equality, women empowerment, and creating inclusive workplaces. It also serves as an inspiration for more women to take on challenging roles in the railway sector.

The East Coast Railway has consistently encouraged greater participation of women in various vital roles, such as track maintenance, train operations, Route Relay Interlocking operations, train management, loco operations, ticket checking, and other key areas, inspiring more women to pursue careers in railways and contribute to the nation's progress with confidence and determination.
