
Bhubaneswar, April 2 With the 2027 Census self-enumeration starting in Odisha, the state government issued an order on Thursday evening, directing all departments not to transfer officials involved in the exercise until it is completed.
The online self-enumeration exercise began on April 1.
Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Arabinda Padhee, in a letter to heads of various departments, district collectors and commissioners of municipal corporations, and chief census officers, said that officials involved in the exercise should not be transferred unless there is an urgent need.
The self-enumeration exercise will continue until midnight on April 15, while the house listing operations as part of the first phase of the census will begin in all 30 districts on April 16 and continue until May 15, officials said.
The second stage – the primary population enumeration phase – will be conducted from February 9 to February 28, 2027, with over 1 lakh trained enumerators and 17,282 supervisors visiting households and collecting data, they said.
