Aizawl, April 7 Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh completed his self-enumeration for the census at Lok Bhavan here on Tuesday, officials said.
Singh hailed the country's first digital census as a "landmark initiative" for the nation.
He urged all census officials in the state to make every effort to ensure that no citizen is left behind.
He also appealed to the citizens to take the exercise seriously by registering themselves in the census and to extend full cooperation to the enumerators.
The governor instructed officials to reach even the remotest corners of the state, ensure the process remains as hassle-free as possible for citizens, and conduct the entire exercise in a clear, transparent, and doubt-free manner.
Recognising the unique social fabric of the state, Singh urged a "strong collaboration" between census officials and Local or Village Councils, leaning on the Mizo tradition of community support to ensure the fieldwork is executed smoothly.
Senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations briefed the governor on the head count preparedness, strategies, and progress in the state during the self-enumeration.
The 2027 census is being rolled out in two strategic stages.
The first phase, Houselisting and Housing Census, began on April 1, while the second phase, Population Enumeration, is scheduled for February next year.
According to officials, the self-enumeration window is open from April 1 to April 15, 2026.
This will be followed by the House Listing and Housing Census across Mizoram from April 16 to May 15, they said.
