
New Delhi, April 11 A 65-year-old man died after a truck crashed into multiple vehicles in central Delhi's Anand Parbat area on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The incident was reported around 2:30 pm in the Industrial Area of Anand Parbat, police said, adding that they received a call about the road accident and an investigating officer, along with police personnel, rushed to the scene.
"Upon reaching the location, officers discovered that a truck had crashed into several parked and moving vehicles, causing chaos in the narrow lane," a senior police officer said.
The vehicles damaged in the incident included a car, two motorcycles, including an e-rickshaw, a scooter, and another truck, he said.
During the inquiry, it was revealed that the victim, identified as Manjeet Singh, a resident of West Patel Nagar, was riding a scooter when the truck hit him. He suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Acharya Bhikshu Hospital by locals before the police arrived.
However, Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital, the officer added.
"The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the accident. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him," he said.
Police confirmed that the offending truck has a Haryana registration number and is registered to a transport company based in Mundka.
A crime team, along with the forensic science laboratory (FSL), examined the accident scene. All vehicles involved have been seized for further investigation.
The PCR caller's statement, who is a local, has been recorded, and a case has been registered. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the accident.
