
March 13, Kohima: A high-level committee, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has approved additional central assistance of over ₹1,912 crore to Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Jammu and Kashmir, which were affected by floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, and cyclone 'Montha' landslides last year.
Of this total amount, over ₹158 crore has been approved for Nagaland.
The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that, of the total amount, over ₹341 crore has been approved for Andhra Pradesh, ₹15.70 crore for Chhattisgarh, and over ₹778 crore for Gujarat. Assistance of over ₹288 crore has also been approved for Himachal Pradesh, and over ₹330 crore for Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry further informed that this additional assistance is in addition to the funds released by the Centre to the States under the State Disaster Response Fund.
