New Delhi, March 30 As many as 145 Delhi Police personnel were awarded honorary ranks upon their retirement at a ceremonial "piping ceremony" held at the police headquarters here on Monday.
The ceremony was presided over by Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha, who, along with other senior officers, ceremonially awarded the retiring officers with their honorary ranks.
From constables to sub-inspectors, the retiring police personnel were awarded badges representing their next higher honorary ranks under the honorary rank promotion scheme.
This was the fourth such ceremony since the scheme was introduced last December to grant retiring non-gazetted personnel an honorary promotion to the next higher rank on their last day of service.
Addressing the gathering, Golchha said the pride and joy visible among the retirees and their families strengthens the force's resolve to serve Delhi better.
He also said that retirement does not end their association with the organization and that they will continue to remain part of the Delhi Police family.
"The police personnel are retiring after rendering a glorious service, which is not only a job, but a passion that drives one to toil for long hours during 35-40 years of service," Golcha said.
