
REASI, March 6: The Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi and the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Khalil Choudhary, led a team to the Reasi Sub Jail to review the civic amenities and services available to inmates.
The team included the Secretary of DLSA, Pooja Gupta, SSP Paramveer Singh, ADC Rakesh Kumar, DySP Headquarters Vishal Singh Jamwal, Inspector K.M. Khajuria, and psychiatrists from Narayana Hospital.
During the visit, the Chairman inaugurated a free medical camp and inspected the Prison Legal Aid Clinic. The psychiatrists interacted with the inmates to assess their mental well-being.
The team also reviewed the living conditions, legal aid services, and other facilities available in the jail. The DLSA Secretary informed the inmates about their legal rights and the availability of free legal aid, encouraging them to seek assistance from the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC).
The Chairman emphasized the importance of timely legal assistance and regular jail visits to address the concerns of inmates and ensure speedy justice.
Meanwhile, an awareness program on the National Lok Adalat scheduled on March 14 was held at the Legal Aid Clinic in Karua, highlighting the benefits of quick and amicable dispute resolution.
Another awareness program on social welfare schemes was organized in Ransoo and Sangar, where PLVs (Public Legal Volunteers) informed the public about various government schemes for vulnerable sections, including women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
