The auspicious Chaitra Navratri festival began on Thursday with grand celebrations and a large influx of devotees at key shrines across Jammu, particularly at the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Bahu Fort, which houses the Bawe Wali Mata Temple.
Despite continuous rainfall in the Trikuta Hills, thousands of pilgrims flocked to the Katra base camp early in the morning to begin their pilgrimage to the holy Bhawan. Despite the adverse weather conditions, devotees proceeded with enthusiasm, demonstrating deep faith and devotion as chants of "Jai Mata Di" echoed throughout the town.
Authorities have implemented comprehensive arrangements to manage the large crowds, including enhanced security measures, RFID tracking systems for pilgrim safety, and special eco-friendly decorations using non-synthetic materials at key locations.
Officials stated that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure smooth movement, sanitation, medical aid, and overall facilities for pilgrims during the Navratri period. The administration is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with various agencies to facilitate a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.
The festival marks one of the most significant religious occasions in the region, attracting devotees from across the country to seek blessings at the holy shrine.
