Barcelona, March 10 Barcelona will face Newcastle in the Champions League round of 16, which kicks off on Tuesday.
The Spanish champions are traveling to St James' Park for the first leg, with coach Hansi Flick making it clear to his players what is at stake.
"This is one of the most important matches of the season, and we are all prepared for it," he said.
Five-time European champion Barcelona hasn't won the Champions League since 2015 and has had to watch as its fiercest rival, Real Madrid, has dominated the competition.
Flick led Barcelona to the Spanish title last season, but his team was eliminated in the Champions League semifinals. He is aiming to improve on that this time around.
"Everything here in Barcelona is great," he said.
"I have been here for 1 1-2 years, and I am enjoying every day working with this fantastic team, with these fantastic players, and with this staff.
"We are also building the club for the future. This is what we want to do."
Liverpool will travel to Galatasaray on Tuesday, and Bayern Munich will play at home against Atalanta.
Atletico Madrid will host a Tottenham team that is fighting to avoid relegation from the Premier League. AP
