New Delhi, March 28 Water supply will remain affected in parts of central and north Delhi over the weekend as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) is carrying out repairs at the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant, officials said on Saturday.
Since March 22, several areas in central Delhi and under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) have been affected due to damage to a water pipeline at the Chandrawal plant.
"After continuous efforts, the plant was made operational in a phased manner on March 25. However, due to residual moisture, faults, some issues remain. Full capacity is expected in two days," an DJB official said.
According to DJB officials, currently, about 47 million gallons per day (MGD) is functional against the installed capacity of 58 MGD, and additional water tankers have been deployed to provide water in affected areas.
The affected areas include Hindurao Hospital, Naya Bazaar, Kashmere Gate, Motia Khan, Pusa Road, Rajender Nagar and Paharganj will receive water supply only in the morning.
Other locations like Vinay Marg, Chanakyapuri, Nehru Park, Ashoka Hotel, Akbar Road, and Sarojini Nagar are also facing shortages.
To provide interim relief and ensure continued water availability, around 100 additional water tankers have been deployed in the affected areas.
