Jammu, April 2 The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed a chargesheet against a terrorist facilitator in a case related to the killing of a villager and injuring his soldier brother in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir two years ago, an official said.
The chargesheet was filed before the designated court against Sabar Hussain, originally from Khabalwali, Shahdara Sharief, and currently residing in Chamrer in the Surankote area of Poonch, for harboring terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF). This is in connection with the brutal killing of Mohd Razaq, a spokesperson for the SIA, said.
Razaq lost his life, and his brother, Tahir Khurshid alias Tahir Fauji, a Territorial Army personnel, sustained injuries when unidentified terrorists opened indiscriminate fire after entering their home in Kunda village, Shahdara Sharief, in Thanamandi on April 22, 2024.
Initially, the case was registered at the Thanamandi police station, and later, the investigation was transferred to the SIA due to the sensitivity of the incident.
During the investigation, crucial evidence was recovered from the scene, and statements of key witnesses were recorded under relevant provisions of law, the spokesperson said.
He said that the investigation established that Hussain had provided shelter, food, and logistical support to three terrorists at his seasonal hut in Chamrer, thereby facilitating the terror attack.
Accordingly, prima facie offenses under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act have been established against the accused, and the case has been chargesheeted, the spokesperson said.
He said that the filing of the chargesheet marks a crucial step in dismantling terror support networks and reaffirms the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensure justice and security in the region.
