
Chandigarh, March 24 The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government on Tuesday assigned the transport portfolio to minister Harpal Singh Cheema and allocated prisons to minister Ravjot Singh.
These portfolios were previously held by former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, who was arrested on Monday after a senior official of the warehousing corporation committed suicide, accusing him of harassment.
Cheema currently holds the portfolios of finance, excise, and taxation, as well as planning. Ravjot Singh is in charge of NRI affairs and parliamentary affairs.
Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, a district manager of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation in Amritsar, allegedly ended his life by consuming poison on Saturday.
A video that surfaced on social media showed the deceased official claiming harassment by Bhullar, who subsequently resigned as a cabinet minister following directions from Chief Minister Mann.
Amritsar Police have booked Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar, and personal assistant Dilbag Singh under Sections 108 (abetment of suicide), 351 (3) (criminal intimidation), and 3 (5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
