Chhattisgarh Man Dies in Elephant Encounter.webp

Gaurela (Chhattisgarh), April 3 A 55-year-old man was killed by a wild elephant in the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, according to forest officials.

Trilochan Singh, the victim, was collecting mahua flowers in the forest near his house in Dandiya village, under the Marwahi division, in the early hours when he encountered the elephant.

Upon being alerted about the incident, forest department personnel reached the spot, and the body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem, an official said.

The elephant, which had been roaming in the forests along the border of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh over the past few days, is still in the area, and local people have been alerted, he added.

According to official data, at least 325 people have been killed in elephant attacks in the state over the last five years.
