Chhattisgarh: SIA Chargesheet Against 9 for Alleged Maoist Links.webp

Bilaspur, March 18 The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Chhattisgarh has filed a chargesheet against nine individuals allegedly linked to the Maoist underground network in a special court in the Bilaspur district of the state.

The chargesheet was filed before the special court of Principal District and Sessions Judge (NIA court) Sirajuddin Qureshi on Tuesday, naming nine individuals as accused in a case lodged last year in connection with the Maoists' urban network, Public Prosecutor Dauram Chandravanshi said on Wednesday.

The matter is scheduled for hearing on March 20, he said.

On September 25 last year, the SIA arrested Jaggu Kursam, a divisional committee member of Maoists, and his wife Kamla Kursam, an area committee member, from Raipur. Based on their interrogation, seven more accused were arrested from different locations in the state, including Korba, Bilaspur, Narayanpur, and Bijapur, he said.

The other accused include Ram Incham, Pawan alias Akash alias Pushkar, Dhansingh Gavde, Sandev Podiyami, Girdhar Nag, Sukaru Ram, and Shankar Korsa, he said.

The accused are natives of Bijapur, Narayanpur and other places, he said.

The investigation had begun into the network after inputs received at the Raipur Police Headquarters indicated that certain individuals, posing as labourers in urban areas, were secretly passing on crucial information to Maoists operating in forest regions using modern electronic devices, he said.

According to the probe findings, the accused were not only living in cities and working for the Maoist organisation but were also involved in spreading its ideology and providing logistical support, such as food, medical aid, and transportation, he said.

According to the prosecution, an FIR in the case was registered in September 2025 at DD Nagar police station in Raipur.

During the arrests, the agency recovered gold, gold biscuits, cash, laptops, mobile phones, and several pen drives, he said.

The accused were booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 147, 148, and 61, along with provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), including Sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 38, 39 and 40, he added.
