February 28, New Delhi: In a significant achievement for Chhattisgarh's anti-Naxal campaign, 120 former Maoists, including high-profile surrenderers, visited the Legislative Assembly in Nava Raipur on Friday.
The visit was part of a three-day field trip during which they observed the budget session.
Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed them with "Jai Johar," assuring them of dignity and new opportunities, while Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma promised skill training and employment support.
Amid intensified operations aimed at creating a Maoist-free state by March 31 this year, over 2,500 Naxals have already surrendered. The visit signals a shift from violence to faith in the Constitution and is being seen as an inspiration for further integration into mainstream society.
