Guwahati, March 20 Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma filed his nomination papers as a BJP candidate for the Jalukbari constituency on Friday.
He was accompanied by his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, his son, Nandil Biswa Sarma, and Bijuli Kalita Medhi, the BJP's Lok Sabha MP for Gauhati.
Sarma has represented Jalukbari within the Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency since 2001, and he aims to secure a sixth consecutive term in the April 9 elections.
Sarma led a large procession before entering the Kamrup (Metropolitan) District Election office to file his nomination papers.
