Jaipur, March 24 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said on Tuesday that "dharma" is essential in politics as well as in all aspects of life, asserting that no work can be carried out properly in its absence.

Addressing a gathering at the Shri Lalita Mahayagya 'purnahuti' and consecration ceremony of Maa Saraswati temple at Balotra, the chief minister said adherence to dharma leads to achievements and helps in building an ideal society and nation.

He said the Sanatan tradition inspires people to move forward with social unity while following the path of dharma, adding that Rajasthan is a land of valour, faith and devotion where spiritual traditions continue to thrive.

According to an official statement, Sharma said such religious events strengthen social harmony and connect future generations with cultural heritage.

He also highlighted developments in the country's religious and cultural landscape under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including projects in Ayodhya, Varanasi and Ujjain.

The chief minister said the state government is focusing on the development of pilgrimage sites, adding that service to faith is the highest form of public service.

Earlier, Sharma offered 'purnahuti' at the Mahayagya and honoured saints and seers present at the event, officials said.
