Rajasthan, March 22 Dog bite cases in Rajasthan saw a sharp increase in 2025, nearly doubling from the previous year, with children accounting for a significant number of victims, according to official data. Jaipur emerged as the worst-affected district.

An RTI application revealed that the state reported more than 460 cases in 2024, which rose to over 900 in 2025, indicating a steep increase. Jaipur recorded the highest numbers both years, with cases surging from 307 in 2024 to 633 in 2025.

"Notably, incidents involving children also saw a sharp rise. Jaipur reported 45 child victims in 2024, which increased to 65 in 2025, the highest among all districts," RTI applicant Chandra Shekhar Gaur said.

Among other districts, Khairthal-Tijara recorded four child victims in 2024, rising to nine in 2025, while Kota reported a significant jump from nine child victims in 2024 to 16 in 2025, making it one of the worst-affected districts for children after Jaipur.

Bikaner reported six child cases in 2024 and two in 2025, while Pali recorded no child cases in 2024 but two in 2025.

Khairthal-Tijara (55 cases), Pali (46 cases), Kota (45 cases) and Bhilwara (33 cases) reported the highest number of cases in 2025 after Jaipur.

Data reveals that the majority of incidents occurred in urban areas, while rural figures remained comparatively low.
