Chitrakoot (UP), March 31 Two children drowned in a river here on Tuesday in a village in the Pahadi area, police said.
According to the police, Shivam, 9, and Ashish, 10, both residents of Kyotan Purwa hamlet, had gone to bathe at the Chakrehi ghat of the Bage river around 9 am when they accidentally ventured into deep waters and drowned.
Upon receiving information, Rajapur Circle Officer Rajkamal reached the spot and, with the help of locals, fished out the bodies from the river and sent them for post-mortem, officials said.
Police added that the administration and revenue authorities have been informed to ensure financial assistance to the bereaved families.
