March 26, New Delhi: U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in May during his first visit to China in eight years.

Trump's state visit is scheduled for May 14-15, with Xi expected to visit Washington for a reciprocal trip later. The visit, originally planned for next week, was delayed due to the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict over Iran.

China's embassy said it had no information to provide on the announcement. This long-scheduled visit, part of Washington's broader effort to reset relations in the Asia-Pacific, has repeatedly been postponed due to global events.

Trump's last trip to China was the most recent by a U.S. President. The May visit will be the first in-person talks between the leaders since their October meeting in South Korea, where they agreed on a trade truce.
