Chouhan Approves High Rabi Season Procurements.webp

Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, responsible for agriculture and farmers' welfare, has approved proposals from the state governments to procure record quantities of pulses and oilseeds during the 2025-26 Rabi season at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare stated that this procurement will be carried out under the Price Support Scheme (PSS), providing relief to farmers from the pressure of selling their crops at very low prices.

The ministry further added that through the approved PSS proposals for Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka, scientific and well-managed procurement of key pulses and oilseed crops such as gram, masoor, mustard, and kusum (safflower) at the MSP will be ensured. The total value of the approved procurement is more than 11,698 crore rupees, aimed at ensuring remunerative prices for farmers and preventing distress sales of produce. The ministry stated that this move will benefit lakhs of farmers across the three states by ensuring fair prices for key pulses and oilseed crops, while strengthening food and nutritional security in the country.
