Mumbai, March 12 Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal said on Thursday that the civic body and City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) have taken action against 11,890 illegal structures in Navi Mumbai.
The minister gave this information in the legislative assembly while replying to a calling attention motion raised by BJP's Manda Mhatre.
Raising the issue, Mhatre said land mafias are carrying out illegal construction on land belonging to the municipal corporation and CIDCO in Navi Mumbai and asked the government to take action.
Misal said the corporation issued 870 notices in cases of illegal construction. Out of these, action was taken against 340 illegal structures and 3,133 illegal huts. A total of 126 cases have also been registered, she said.
She added that CIDCO issued 10,160 notices in such cases, demolished 8,417 encroachments and registered four cases.
Altogether, action has been taken against 11,890 illegal structures in Navi Mumbai, the minister said.
Mhatre also demanded action against illegal arches put up by political parties in the city. Misal assured the House that if such arches are found to be encroachments, action will be taken against them within eight days.
