Beijing/Shanghai, April 10 A delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), currently on a visit to China, has interacted with Chinese businesses to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
The delegation, led by CII President Rajiv Memani, is the second Indian business team to visit China following the normalization of ties between the two countries after a freeze of over five years due to the military standoff in Eastern Ladakh.
Last month, a delegation from the Punjab, Haryana and Delhi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) visited Shanghai and Jiangsu province, one of China's most industrialized areas, to interact with businesses and industries.
The Consulate General of India in Shanghai, Pratik Mathur, hosted a high-level interaction on Wednesday between the visiting CII delegation and prominent Chinese businesses to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
At the meeting, Mathur highlighted the achievements of India’s ongoing economic transformation under the Indian government's vision of Viksit Bharat and Atma Nirbhar Bharat, a statement from the Shanghai consulate said.
Mathur emphasised that India's policy focus on resilient supply chains, ease of doing business, digital public infrastructure, and manufacturing competitiveness, supported by initiatives such as Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, creates significant opportunities for global partnerships.
He said eastern China, as a hub of advanced manufacturing and innovation, is a potential partner for India in co-developing industrial ecosystems, scaling investments, and fostering technology collaboration.
Mathur also outlined the Indian industry's sectoral strengths and reiterated CII's role as a bridge between the Indian and global industry.
He also spoke about strong potential for collaboration in advanced manufacturing, green technologies, the digital economy, healthcare, and infrastructure, and called for institutionalized industry linkages and sustained B2B engagement between India and regional enterprises.
The interaction served as a platform for substantive discussions on enhancing trade, investment flows, and technological cooperation between India and China, the statement said.
Participants expressed a strong interest in exploring concrete partnerships aligned with India’s growth trajectory and global economic integration.
