March 13, New Delhi – E-commerce giant Amazon has expanded its dedicated air cargo service, Amazon Air, to Northeast India.

The inaugural flight to Guwahati was launched from Indira Gandhi International Airport by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu.

The Civil Aviation Minister said that he is extremely delighted to inaugurate the Delhi-Guwahati, the first of its kind, dedicated air cargo service by Amazon Air. He described it as a very historic day, highlighting how this service will bring better air cargo connectivity to the Northeast. He also congratulated Amazon for taking this step, noting that Amazon is one of the strongest e-commerce players not only in the country but across the world.

The new cargo route, connecting Kolkata and Guwahati, aims to strengthen logistics connectivity across the Northeast. The service will support deliveries across all seven sister states and is expected to make deliveries up to five times faster.

Amazon stated that the expansion will also help small businesses and entrepreneurs in the region reach customers across India more efficiently.
