
New Delhi, March 30 As many as 17 accidents involving aircraft and helicopters operated by non-scheduled operators occurred in the last five years, including five in 2025, the Ministry of Civil Aviation informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Of the total 17 accidents, 12 were involving helicopters and five were involving fixed-wing aircraft.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said that 46 safety violations involving charter operators were reported in 2025, while the total number of such violations in the last five years stood at 116.
According to the data shared by the minister, eight incidents involving charter operators were reported in the last five years, including two incidents last year.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)'s safety oversight process includes regulatory audits, night surveillance, ramp inspections, spot checks, and special audits.
"In addition to the Annual Surveillance Plan 2026, the DGCA carried out a special audit of 29 non-scheduled operators in February and March 2026, in order to ensure safe operations," Mohol said in another written reply.
