March 01, New Delhi – Pakistani police clashed with protesters on Sunday who breached the outer wall of the U.S. consulate in Karachi, resulting in nine deaths. The protests erupted following news of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Hospital records confirmed that all nine fatalities were due to gunshot wounds, while a rescue service spokesman reported 20 others were injured. Protesters chanted slogans against the United States, Israel, and their allies.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the U.S. consulate in Lahore. There were minor clashes with police, but no reports of fatalities or serious injuries.
