Jammu, March 26: As part of a key environmental initiative, the Jammu Municipal Corporation, along with NGOs and volunteers, conducted a cleanliness and awareness campaign along the banks of the Tawi River during the Saag Visarjan (immersion of religious offerings).
Teams set up help desks and guided devotees to adopt eco-friendly practices. Non-biodegradable items used in rituals were collected and handed over for proper disposal instead of being immersed in the river.
The campaign also focused on raising awareness about keeping the Tawi clean. Volunteers urged citizens to avoid using plastic and other harmful materials, emphasizing the river's cultural and ecological significance.
This initiative highlights a strong commitment towards environmental conservation and community participation in preserving Jammu's natural heritage.
