
MET Centre Srinagar forecasts widespread cloudy conditions with rain snowfall and temporary disruptions in higher reaches while advising farmers to suspend operations
March 10, Srinagar: The MET Centre Srinagar has issued a detailed weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher reaches at many places on March 10 and 11.
The advisory states that a few higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts may receive moderate snowfall during the period. From March 12 to 14, the weather is expected to remain generally dry across the Union Territory.
The forecast further indicates generally cloudy conditions on March 15 and 16, with a spell of light rain and snowfall over higher reaches at scattered places towards the night of March 15 and morning of March 16. Similar conditions are expected on March 17 and 18, with light rain and snowfall likely at scattered locations towards the night of March 17 and morning of March 18.
For March 19 and 20, the weather department has predicted generally cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain at a few places.
In its advisory, the weather office has warned of temporary traffic disruptions over higher reaches and important passes of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts due to inclement weather conditions. Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations during March 10 and 11.
The department has also cautioned about the possibility of thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour at a few places during March 9 to 11.
