New Delhi, March 24 The Delhi government will establish a "Diti Ayog," similar to the Niti Ayog, to ensure focused, city-centric policy making, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced in her budget speech on Tuesday.
While presenting the budget for 2026-27, Gupta elaborated on the good governance measures of the Delhi government, stating that "Diti" stands for "Delhi Institutional Think Tank for Innovation."
Under the previous AAP government in Delhi, the Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) served as a think tank, assisting in policy formulation. It was dissolved by then LG VK Saxena in June 2024.
Currently, the departments of the Delhi government themselves handle policy formulation, with the help of the planning department.
The chief minister stated that her government is committed to citizen-centric governance through decentralization, digitization, and transparency.
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, "Good governance should become a mass movement, including initiatives such as 'Bhu-Aadhaar' for a unique 14-digit number for each property and the digitization of land records."
