
Mumbai, February 17 The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited (AMTZ), a medical technology park, announced on Tuesday that it has signed a five-year agreement with the non-profit organization, Narayan Seva Sansthan (NSS), to expand the development and production of affordable, high-quality prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive technologies within India.
According to a statement, under the agreement, AMTZ will provide technical and operational support, access to research and development and testing infrastructure, and assistance in joint research initiatives.
NSS will be responsible for clinical validation, rehabilitation protocols, and nationwide assistive device camps.
Both organizations will also jointly pursue grants, patents, and support programs from national and international funding bodies to accelerate innovation and expand access to high-quality medical devices for underserved communities.
According to the 2011 Census, India has 2.68 crore people with disabilities. The largest segments include those with mobility impairments (54.36 lakh), hearing impairments (50.72 lakh), and visual impairments (50.33 lakh).
