
Mumbai, April 6 Shipping Corporation of India Land and Assets has signed a memorandum of understanding with Synergy Marine to collaborate on maritime capability development, training, and knowledge exchange, a statement said on Monday.
As part of the initial phase, Shipping Corporation of India Land and Assets Ltd (SCILAL), through its Maritime Training Institute (MTI) in Powai, will partner with Synergy Marine for an upcoming Diploma in Nautical Studies programme.
Over time, this may support areas such as digitalization, data-driven operations, new technologies, decarbonization, sustainability, future fuels, research, innovation, and capability development, as well as training frameworks aligned with regulatory and operational requirements, the statement said.
The collaboration will strengthen training outcomes through industry partnership and support the development of a future-ready maritime workforce, aligned with the national vision of increasing India's share in the global seafaring pool from around 12 per cent to over 20 per cent by 2030, said BK Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director at Shipping Corporation of India Ltd, who is also the MD of SCILAL.
Ajay Chaudhry, Co-CEO, Synergy Marine Group, said, "This engagement reflects a shared understanding that maritime training must continue to evolve alongside the industry."
