
March 25, New Delhi – The death toll from a Colombian military plane crash shortly after takeoff in the country’s southern region has risen to at least 69.
According to the nation’s armed forces, the aircraft was carrying 126 people, along with ammunition, revising earlier passenger figures downward.
Additionally, 57 soldiers were injured, along with local residents who rushed to rescue survivors but were hurt by exploding munitions in the wreckage.
Soldiers and investigators continue to operate at the crash site amid the shattered debris as the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The military said the injured have been shifted to multiple hospitals, while the remains of those killed were transported to Bogotá for identification by forensic authorities before being handed over to their families.
