
World Oral Health Day was observed at the Asanangre Playground, with a focus on educating children and the community on proper oral hygiene practices.
Smt. Cherime Winchi R. Sangma, Block Development Officer (BDO), Rongram C&RD Block, and Galchi K. Sangma, Medical & Health Officer, I/C Asanangre, were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.
The event, organized by Asanang PHC under the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), saw participation from students and staff of Asanangre Govt. UP School, Asanangre Govt. LP School, Asanangre English School, Rongram Block Office staff, and Asanangre PHC staff.
A highlight of the event was the General Tooth Brushing Demonstration, where children were taught the correct way to brush their teeth by Dr. Kalseng D. Momin, Dental Surgeon, Asanang PHC.
Dr. Kalseng D. Momin, Dental Surgeon at Asanang PHC, while speaking to the media, stated that the 'World Oral Health Day' celebration focused on oral health, emphasizing that a healthy mouth is a healthy life.
He said that the event was organized differently this year, focusing on the basics of tooth brushing, which is a crucial part of everyday life.
He explained that brushing teeth regularly, twice a day, and in the correct way can prevent 90-95% of oral health issues. He said the main objective was to educate children, parents, and the general population on the correct way of brushing, as many people don't know the proper technique. The event aimed to showcase how to brush properly, and he hoped the message would help people understand the importance of correct brushing in maintaining good oral health.
