Community Mourns: Two Brothers and a Boy Lost in Jharkhand.webp

Sahibganj/Gumla, March 13 Two brothers drowned in the Ganga in the Sahibganj district of Jharkhand, while the body of a boy was recovered from a well in the Gumla district, police said on Friday.

The drowning incident occurred in the Yogichak Sarakanda village, within the Rajmahal police station limits.

The victims, aged eight and nine, had gone missing on Thursday afternoon, police said.

"The bodies of both victims were recovered on Friday with the help of divers. The search operation was initiated after we spotted them heading towards the river on CCTV cameras," said Husnain Ansari, officer-in-charge of the Rajmahal police station.

The victims' family had returned to the village from Mumbai for a holiday after three years, police said, adding that the bodies were handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident, the body of an eight-year-old boy was recovered from a well in the Kesipara village, within the limits of the Gumla Sadar police station, on Friday.

The boy had been missing since March 10 after he went to attend a wedding ceremony in the village, and a complaint had been lodged in this regard, police said.

Gumla OC Mahendra Karmali said that prima facie, it appears the boy fell into the well because it had no parapet. Further investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
