Community Resilience: Disaster Management Program Launched in Poonch.webp

The Poonch District Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, organized a disaster management training program at the Poonch Sports Stadium to enhance awareness and preparedness among young people.

The training session was inaugurated by Mohd Shafiq, Additional Commissioner of Revenue (ACR), who emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and the vital role young people can play during emergency situations. He stressed that timely awareness and basic rescue skills can help save lives during both natural and man-made disasters.

During the program, volunteers from the State Disaster Response Force conducted practical demonstrations and interactive sessions to educate students about various types of disasters and effective response strategies. Participants were trained in basic rescue techniques, first aid, and safety measures to be adopted during emergencies.

Students actively participated in the session and gained valuable knowledge on how to remain calm, respond effectively, and assist others during critical situations. The initiative aimed at strengthening community resilience and promoting a culture of disaster preparedness among the younger generation.
