New Delhi, April 7 The father of Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Shyam Lal Sachdeva, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Tuesday.
His body will be cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat on Wednesday morning, according to a statement.
Sachdeva, who was around 94 years old, is survived by his wife, Krishna Sachdeva, a daughter, and five sons, including the Delhi BJP chief, the statement said.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in a post on X, expressed her condolences, saying, "The presence of a father is like a banyan tree, and his departure is like the loss of the biggest support for the family. I extend my deepest condolences to the party president and the bereaved family."
Several BJP leaders, including Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, MPs Manoj Tiwari and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, and MLAs Arvinder Singh Lovely and Kailash Gehlot, visited Sachdeva's residence in Mayur Vihar to offer their condolences.
