Alappuzha (Kerala), March 7 Senior Congress leader and AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said on Saturday that the current political situation in Kerala guarantees a resounding victory for the UDF, which is led by the party, by winning more than 100 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections.
There are 140 Assembly seats in the state.
Speaking to reporters here, Venugopal said the UDF would soon release its list of candidates for the crucial election.
The Alappuzha MP also said that the "Puduyuga Yatra," led by Satheesan, which is set to culminate in Thiruvananthapuram after crisscrossing all districts of the state, has helped to strengthen the hope and expectations among people about the UDF returning to power.
"The current political situation in Kerala is that the UDF can come to power by winning more than 100 seats. This is evident from the anxiety among political opponents," Venugopal said.
He also said that the Puduyuga Yatra has served as a platform for absorbing the widespread public anger against the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government in the state.
The remarks came from the AICC general secretary at a time when major political parties are busy finalising candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls, the dates of which have not yet been announced.
