Congress Leader Advocates Party Unity for Kerala Polls.webp

Thiruvananthapuram, March 19 Congress leader A K Antony said on Thursday that he had urged party strongman K Sudhakaran to abide by the high command's decision, no matter how difficult, to ensure the defeat of the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF.

Antony's request to Sudhakaran comes amidst reports of his dissatisfaction with the party over not being considered as a candidate for the Kannur constituency in the upcoming assembly polls in Kerala on April 9.

Speaking to reporters here, the Congress leader said that Sudhakaran is someone who fought against the Marxist party "at the expense of his life".

"So, I told him that whatever difficulty he faces, he should ensure that they (the CPIM-led LDF) do not get a third term by accepting the party's decision," said Antony, a former Chief Minister of Kerala.

Kannur MP Sudhakaran has expressed a strong interest in contesting in the assembly poll from the northern Kerala constituency.
