Congress Leader's Nomination Challenged Over Discrepancies

Congress Leader's Nomination Challenged Over Discrepancies.webp

Kochi, March 24 The LDF on Tuesday alleged that Congress leader V D Satheesan submitted a false affidavit regarding his assets and income, along with his nomination papers, on Monday.

A representative of CPI leader E T Taison Master, who is contesting against Satheesan from the Paravoor Assembly constituency here, told a TV channel that there were four issues in the Congress leader's affidavit.

"One of the objections we raised was the failure to disclose the fines imposed on his official vehicle in 2021 and 2023, another was that he undervalued the gold he and his wife possessed by more than Rs 1.10 crore, and he has not indicated how much salary and allowance he receives as an opposition leader," the CPI leader's representative said.

Besides these, the fourth issue was that Satheesan, while claiming to be a lawyer, has not indicated whether he is earning as a lawyer.

"Despite raising these important objections, his nomination was accepted. The actions of the Returning Officer are a violation of the Supreme Court's orders, and therefore, there is collusion with the ECI," the CPI leader's representative alleged.

He said that the Returning Officer's decision will be challenged after the election results are announced, as it cannot be done now.
