Congress announces second list of candidates for Assam Assembly Polls

As the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly election approaches, political activity among parties in the state has intensified.

Yesterday, the Indian National Congress Central Election Committee released the party's second list of candidates. The list includes nominees for 23 constituencies.

According to the second list, Nurul Islam will contest from the Srijangram seat, Abdul Khaleque from Mandia, Rakibuddin Ahmed from Chamaria, Devid Phukan from Tinsukia, Bipul Gogoi from Tingkhong, Wazed Ali Choudhury from Birsing Jarua, and Abul Kalam Rasheed Alam (Goalpara East).

The party also stated that the remaining 15 seats— Bhabanipur-Sorbhog, Bajali, Palasbari, Guwahati Central, Goreswar, Morigaon, Barhampur, Binnakandi, Behali (SC), Sadiya, Dibrugarh, Khowang, Sarupathar, Diphu (ST), Amri (ST)— have been reserved for alliance partners.

The Congress released its first list of 42 candidates for the upcoming polls in the State on March 3, fielding State party chief Gaurav Gogoi from the Jorhat seat.
