February 18, New Delhi – Good news is coming from Kuno National Park, located in the Sheopur district of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, where three new cheetah cubs were born, as India completes three years since cheetahs arrived from South Africa.

Celebrations are echoing through Kuno National Park as Gamini, the South African cheetah and second-time mother, has brought three new cubs into the world.

This joyful arrival marks the ninth successful cheetah litter on Indian soil and takes the number of surviving Indian-born cubs to 27.

With these newest additions, India’s total cheetah population has now reached 38, a powerful symbol of the country’s determined and historic conservation effort.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav shared that Kuno National Park has welcomed three new cheetah cubs, marking India’s ninth successful litter.

With these additions, the country’s cheetah population rises to 38, celebrating three years since cheetahs arrived from South Africa.

The Minister shared a post on X and wrote, "Another good news from Kuno.

Kuno welcomes three new cubs – a roaring new chapter at Kuno on the occasion of the completion of three years since the arrival of cheetahs from South Africa.
