March 15, New Delhi: In light of the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its impact on global gas and oil shipping, the government has issued a new rule regarding domestic LPG connections.
Under an amendment to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, consumers who already have a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection will no longer be allowed to keep or refill a domestic LPG cylinder.
Individuals who currently hold both PNG and LPG connections are being directed to surrender their LPG connection immediately.
The order also directs government oil companies not to issue new LPG connections or provide refills to consumers who already have a PNG connection. This move aims to prevent the duplication of subsidized cooking fuel and streamline domestic gas distribution across the country.
