Controversy Surrounds Badshah's Song, Leads to Request for Prohibition.webp

Lucknow, March 12 Vice-Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission, Aparna Yadav, has written to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging that no permission be granted for events featuring rapper-singer Badshah in the state due to controversy surrounding his Haryanvi track "Tateeree."

Yadav requested the chief minister to direct all district magistrates in the state not to grant permission for any proposed shows or events featuring the singer in Uttar Pradesh.

In a letter sent on Thursday, Yadav said the song allegedly contains objectionable references to women and minors and portrays them in an inappropriate manner.

According to the letter, the visuals and lyrics in the album "Tateeree" allegedly depict women in an indecent and objectionable way.

It also alleged that school girls shown wearing uniforms were portrayed inappropriately and that a school — described as a sacred place of learning — was referred to using derogatory language. Such content, Yadav said, not only insults the dignity of women but also undermines the education system and social values.

The letter further stated that an FIR has allegedly been registered against the singer under Sections 3, 4 and 296 (obscene acts and songs) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and that a Look Out Circular (LOC) has also been issued against him.

Citing cultural values that accord the status "Narayani" to women, Yadav said that allowing programmes of artists who present such objectionable content could send a wrong message to society and hurt cultural sensitivities.

Yadav has requested the chief minister to direct all district magistrates in the state not to grant permission for any proposed shows or events featuring the singer in Uttar Pradesh.
