Jaipur, March 11 Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday expressed concern over the cooking gas crisis amid the West Asia conflict, urging people to use fuel cautiously.
"The deepening crisis over the supply of cooking gas (LPG) in the country due to the war in Gulf nations is extremely worrying. It is unfortunate that the Modi government, as always, remains careless and insensitive even regarding this potential national crisis," Gehlot said.
The central government's inability to timely assess the situation is a clear "collective failure," Gehlot said, while appealing to the people to use LPG and petrol-diesel responsibly in the current circumstances.
The Congress leader, in a post on X, said, "In the present situation, I appeal to the public to use cooking gas and petrol-diesel with full responsibility. Both the central and state governments should ensure LPG supply to roadside eateries where daily wage labourers depend on meals."
Gehlot also urged the Rajasthan government to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to the state's subsidized meal scheme.
"I especially urge the Rajasthan government to ensure uninterrupted availability of gas at least in Indira Rasoi (currently Annapurna Rasoi), as lakhs of needy people, students and workers depend on them for food," he added.
