New Delhi, March 18 Copper prices declined by Rs 9.15 to Rs 1,186.80 per kg in futures trading on Wednesday, as weak global trends weighed on market sentiment.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for April delivery fell by Rs 9.15, or 0.77 percent, to Rs 1,186.80 per kilogram in a trading volume of 7,852 lots.
Analysts said the decline in copper prices was largely in line with losses in the international markets amid cautious trading activity.
In the international market, copper futures for the May contract fell by 1.13 percent to USD 5.70 per pound in New York.
Similarly, on the London Metals Exchange (LME), the prices of the red metal dipped by USD 118.53, or nearly 1 percent, to USD 12,647 per tonne.
Market participants said sentiment remained subdued as traders monitored global economic indicators and the outlook for demand in industrial metals.
