Sub-Inspector U. K. Siddeshwar and Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah were apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ranga Reddy range unit, when they demanded Rs 5 lakh and accepted Rs 2 lakh as partial payment from the complainant, the bureau said on Wednesday.

The alleged bribe was sought for filing the chargesheet and not involving or arresting the complainant’s family members in a case at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Station, Shamshabad.

Following the trap, searches by the Anti-Corruption Bureau at Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah’s residence led to the seizure of Rs 33.97 lakh in cash. Some property documents were also found, and they are being investigated, the anti-graft agency said.

The agency stated that the accused officers performed their duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau Joint Director said that both accused officers have been arrested and produced before the Special Court for SPE and Anti-Corruption Bureau cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
