
Ballia (UP), April 6 A local court on Monday sentenced a man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a six-month-old case of kidnapping and rape of a 16-year-old girl.
The court of Additional District Judge (POCSO) Pratham Kant also imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 on the accused.
Prosecution Officer Vimal Kumar Rai said that on September 25, 2025, the accused, Samadan, kidnapped the girl from a village under the Pakri police station and subsequently raped her.
The girl's father had lodged a complaint in connection with the incident, following which a case was registered against the accused under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Following an investigation, the police filed a chargesheet against the accused in court.
Rai said that Additional District Judge (POCSO) Pratham Kant, while hearing the case on Monday, held Samadan guilty and sentenced him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 35,000.
